About

My name is Amanda Axelby. I have been a passionate advocate for childbearing women in the Canberra birthing circles for the past 30 years, as a mother, a doula, and now as a midwife.
I am now an endorsed midwife offering personalised midwifery services to women in the Canberra region. I provide a complete care package for pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period to 6 weeks. Birth care is offered in your home, or as a support person in hospital.

Pregnancy, birth and parenting are profoundly transformative. As a consumer, I was privileged to work in partnership with midwives who were respectful, responsive, nurturing and sensitive. These relationships were the inspiration to begin my own midwifery journey. After the birth of my babies, who were born both at home and in hospital, I completed the Bachelor of Midwifery, with First Class Honours, through the University of Canberra. I have since worked in a variety of settings including, women’s homes, birth centres and the hospital setting. I have also completed a
Postgraduate Prescribing for Midwives (Pharmacology) at Griffith University, I am a Circle of Security Program Facilitator and I am now a certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Furthermore, I am an approved Bupa ADF provider.

Please feel welcome to contact me for a free meet and greet session.
